Splashblog Mobile
July 10, 2006
I’ve decided to ditch the Orange Photography service – it never really worked the way I’d imagined it would, and the problem with double-posting pictures was resolved, and then came back again.
After some searching around, I’ve opted for Splashblog. The smartphone client install is a breeze, and using it couldn’t be more straightforward. I love the ability to add a title, and notes to a picture from the Smartphone – features that are pretty obvious for a photo blogging service, but features that Orange Phtography didn’t have. The only thing that did take a while to get used to was firing up Splashblog, and then selecting the camera option – this allows me to take a picture and annotate it immediately. The other option is to fire up the camera, take the picture, move it to Splashblog and then annotate it.
Something I’d love to see is for Splashblog to sync via the network rather than GPRS (which can get expensive) – it may be that it can over wifi (which my SPV C600 doesn’t have), but not over ActiveSync. Even so, the ability to upload when my phone is synching with my PC would be big plus.
Despite that, though, Splashblog is easy to use, easy to manage and well presented. Enjoy the pictures, and do leave comments!
