Something Missing from Google Reader?

Date October 14, 2006

I’ve been using Google Reader for a couple of weeks now, and I really, really like it (I’m running Attensa’s Outlook add-on too, but that’s another post)

Today I noticed something strange. Google Reader doesn’t have a Search function… I was looking for a post from Matt Cutt’s blog relating to living the Google Lifestyle. I knew I’d seen it, and was looking for box to start typing my search terms, before I realised I’d never seen a Search function.

For a search company – some might say the search company – this seems like a school-boy mistake. A mistake so obvious, that it made it wonder if the developers omitted it deliberately; “Dude, let’s leave out the Search box, and see how it long takes before someone notices…!”.

I’m certainly not the first person to notice this , so I’d put money on it being in the next release! Something else that tickles me is that the spell-check function in Google Reader flags the word “Google” as a mistake and offers “Go Ogle” as it’s first suggestion instead. Awwwww.

update: I originally created this post using Google Docs, which is why it was missing a title, and why some of the formatting looked a little off… Sorry!

[...] Andrew Terry is one of many noticing there isn’t a search function.  Odd, given that Google is (in theory) a search company.  This is one of my biggest complaints as well. [...]
